day one with dave and kaylene

Dave and Kaylene left yesterday morning. We were sad to see them go! We had such a fun and relaxing weekend with them. We ate at a lot of delicious restaurants, enjoyed great conversation, laughed a lot, went to Shake Shack twice and Central Park three times. The weekend was definitely a success.

Here are some pictures from day one, last Friday. We hit Midtown, Central Park, the Met during the day, and Harlem in the evening. Thanks Kaylene for letting me steal some of your pictures!

We went to the park almost every day. It's probably my favorite place in the city, and you have to take advantage of the fall leaves!



We took Dave and Kaylene to see where Klane works, so of course we stopped at St. Patricks and Rockefeller since they're next door.


Always fun to stop at FAO Schwartz. We really almost played the big piano. We just felt bad about pushing little kids out of the way to do it.


The Apple Store was a must-see.


And if you walk right past Crumbs, you pretty much have to stop and grab a cupcake (or two) for the road, right?





Also a must-see, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Lunch at THE best Halal food cart in Midtown (on 53rd and 6th, southeast corner). Yes the street carts are different, yes this one is the best.
Going to see This Is It, the Michael Jackson movie, at our theater in Harlem. The movie was so good! Highly recommended.
Dinner at Zoma, the ethiopian restaurant down the street. So unique, so delicious!

best subway performer. ever.

Is it the dance moves? The faux leather pants? The electric violin music? Or the high kicks?

We can't decide. We can only stand and watch in awe.


We googled "electric violin subway" after this, and it turns out we are not the only fans. This guy is all over the internet. Go check him out. His name is Michael Schulman. He is unreal.

angie's family visits: day 3

I forgot the camera this day. Yet somehow we ended up with way more pictures. I attribute this to the ease of taking iPhone photos. We had a lot of fun though. Please excuse the obscene amount of photos on this post. I'm really sorry. I just can't help myself.

Started the morning at a bagel shop, wandered through the park, ran though the Museum of Natural History, hit the Shake Shack, shopped in Midtown, grabbed some Crumbs, then came home to watch the BYU game via video chat (thanks, Hardings!) and ordered in buffalo wings from the place around the corner. The day was a success. Enjoy.

On to the Museum:




This is the part where Brandon and I speed-walked through the museum trying to see as much as we could in as little time as possible. It was hilarious and very fun. I'd recommend this as the best way to see a museum. Some nice person outside gave us two free tickets, so we actually took turns going in and taking a quick peek. We didn't feel the need to wait in the admission line since we didn't want to spend a lot of time in the museum anyway. Brandon and I just decided to make the very most out of our quick museum peek.







Well, at least we were amused.

Afterward we walked around the corner to the Shake Shack. Posing for pictures along the way.

The Concrete Jungle, The Upper West Slide, and a personalized concoction of our own.



Me and my mom on our jaunt through Anthro. It's fun to just look at all the beautiful things. Usually we think they're too expensive to actually buy.


We went to H&M where we found some amazing purple velour mens pants and awesome hats. Brandon found some serious clothes too.


And of course we had to get some Crumbs cupcakes

I had so much fun with my parents and Brandon here, I only wish they could've stayed longer! It was so fun to have a vacation for the weekend. Back to real life tomorrow!
