This husband of mine...

I love Klane. He is the perfect husband for me. He is so patient and his personality balances mine so well. I love being married to him. In honor of Valentine's day (and since I sort of spaced getting him a present...) here's a little list of some things I love about Klane.

Well, I do think he's pretty handsome.

He's smart and oh so talented. He got a job in New York and therefore gave me the opportunity to come live in this amazing city! What an adventure and incredible opportunity I never would've experienced without him.

He is passionate about music and keeps me listening to new stuff all the time. And he pulls off this hat smashingly.

He's romantic.

He'll do crazy things with me. Like climbing on the roof in a lightning storm.

He ran a half-marathon with me. Now that is love. (And we're doing another one this spring!)

We have a lot of the same interests, and we've done so many fun adventurous things together. He is up for anything and I love all the memories we've shared together.

He is funny and always keeps me laughing. He doesn't mind posing for all my pictures. Many of his poses make me laugh.

Speaking of funny, I love when he sings and/or dances along with his music. He's doing it right now, actually. :)

Klane is a great example of service. He serves the youth in our church. He is always stopping to help people carry strollers up the subway stairs, holds doors for people, and performs small acts of service for people around him.

He keeps on loving me, even when I'm in a bad mood or impatient or frustrated. He's so good at dealing with stubborn old me.

He teaches me so much, he is very knowledgeable and passionate about a lot of things. (photography, film, advertising, computers, good design, technology, investing, money management, the gospel... to name a few)

He will probably be embarrassed that I did a post all about him. But I am so grateful for my husband. I really am. He is so perfect for me. I'm so happy we get to be together forever.

Movember comes to a close

The final 'stache. Fully grown. Raising money and lookin good doing it. Well, sort of looking like a pedophile. But whatever.

After 30 days (and a few extra since Klane's been too sick to shave), Klane's face is finally moustache-free again. I will admit, I was proud of him for growing such an established moustache. Neither he nor I knew he had it in him. ;) But I am glad it's gone. It was a little too... furry for my liking.

For those who were wondering, Klane and his team of hairy-faced friends from work raised $5,224 to fight cancer through their moustache-growing efforts and the kind donations of all their supporters (including some of you dear readers). I'm so proud! Happy Movember! Thanks to all who donated to the cause. You can check out Klane's team page here.

i love my birthday.

I shamelessly admit that I LOVE being celebrated and loved and remembered for a day (or a few days). Whoever invented birthdays was a GENIUS. I loved hearing from so many of my close family and friends on my birthday. Thank you so much for all your well-wishes you sent my way all day. I love you all! You made it such a great day!

My only regret is the shameful lack of photos I took. All on the iPhone, none with important people in them.

At work they got me a cake (and another girl whose birthday is Friday), and sang to me and everyone wrote in a card and the doc gave me a birthday check! I love my job!

My aunt Barbara and cousin Heidi were in town and came to my office to see me! That was so fun and I was happy to get to see them, even if it was just for a few minutes.

After work Klane took me to dinner at a secret location. I had no idea where he was leading me. It was so exciting. We were walking down a quiet street when suddenly Klane turns us down this little alley. Seriously?! (Yes.) Tucked away at the end was this cosy little romantic restaurant with twinkle lights, candles, rustic decor, and amazing food. It was amazing!

We decided to wander around to find a place for dessert. Luckily we were near some of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. It was a perfect night. The weather was gorgeous and the streets weren't too busy, so we got to roam around enjoying each other's company and admiring the cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture of SoHo and the West Village. I loved every minute.

Magnolia Bakery ended up being our dessert place of choice. I've been there once for cupcakes and wasn't impressed, so I always thought the bakery was overrated. But oh my heavens. Their other desserts are fantastic. We tried the banana pudding and the icebox cake. Both desserts were amazing. We sat on a park bench across the street eating and making "mmmm" sounds the whole time. I am now a believer of Magnolia. So good!

So overall I think it was the best birthday ever. I say that every year but it's always true. They just keep getting better. I think that's the way it should be.

ohhhhhhh tuesday. i kind of hate you.

Tuesdays are not my favorite lately. My job at the dental office stresses me out. The office manager is evil (really), and I worry about not knowing everything or getting behind my schedule, and I tell myself I hate cleaning teeth. Most of the stress is in my head. I psych myself up for it all week, and by Monday night I'm a total mess. I wake up at 3:00 am and can't sleep. There are usually tears. I decide I'm going to quit, then decide I'm not a quitter, I need dental office experience and I have to stick it out.

But Klane always meets me for lunch, and he makes me laugh, and sometimes takes silly pictures of us while we're waiting for our food at a street cart (I give myself a break from packing us lunches on Tuesday). He's a good husband.

I also usually talk to my mom a bit, and her voice always cheers me up. She's a good mom.

And by the end of the day, I realize that I really can do this. The job really isn't that bad. The doc is super nice. And it's fun meeting all the patients, seeing them come in apprehensive or dubious about the "new girl" and then leave happy.

Actually, I might kind of sort of like it. Just a little.

Until next week, Tuesday. Good riddance.
