Skiing at Sundance

After a night at the cabin, Brandon, Michael, Klane and I went for a morning of skiing at Sundance. It was cold but a lot of fun. I love skiing so much and wish we could do it more than just once a year.

It was five degrees when we got in the car. But lower temperatures means lighter snow!

When we got back to the cabin my mom had hot cocoa and lunch for us! Talk about service! It was a great morning.

I'm starting to feel a little panicked when I think about leaving on Sunday. We're having so much fun spending time with family, and enjoying the snowy weather and the mountains. This is where I belong. We'll try to soak it up while we can!

who says boys can't play dress up?

Klane and the boys enjoyed some spring skiing yesterday. I didn't know they had a retro day until i turned on the camera and saw the pictures.

Mike, Ryan, Blake

Klane doing a "gaper roll". Apparently a "gaper" is a tourist who comes to Utah for a ski vacation and isn't good at skiing (a.k.a. "holiday" skier). Yes he did it on purpose to make fun of these people.

Oh, hello husband. I like your glasses. You are hot.

and i felt like i could fly

a last minute snowstorm rolled in this week. probably the last of the season.
we couldn't pass up the opportunity.

i am so glad we didn't.
i haven't had many powder days in my years of skiing, and this was the best i've ever had.

i've only had fresh tracks once before, but this morning we did. oh my. we did.
that has to be the closest you can get to what it feels like to fly.

today i was grateful to heavenly father for creating snow. what a great idea!

it's always fun to ski with cute husband and mike. they are good at jumping off of stuff, and i am good at watching.
and then we all fly down the mountain together. good times!

morning at the 'dance

I went snowboarding with my dad this morning. He is getting really good! I'm proud of him for having the guts to try something new and hard, and he's conquering it! I'm kind of proud too that i was his teacher. :) It was fun to be up on the mountain, just me and my dad.

Please forgive the bad quality cell phone pictures. It's all I had!

Quick Powell Trip

I've never been to Lake Powell on an overnighter, so this past weekend was a first for me! We ran down to the lake with my family on Friday morning to ski and surf for the extended weekend. We had a blast while the weather lasted, but after listening to the weather report Friday night, we decided to head home the next day. There were thunder storms from Saturday night to Monday afternoon! Shoot! But we made the most of our time there and it was really a blast. We relocated to the cabin where we spent the rest of the rainy but beautiful weekend.

Bear Lake 08

We took a weekend trip to Bear Lake with the Harding Clan. Almost everyone - Sara had to work (tear.) - was able to come up! We stayed in the Ross' condo and spent two days boating and enjoying each other's company. It was such a good time! We wakeboarded, skied, and tried something new: wake skating. It's like skateboarding on the water and Klane loved it. You wear these cool water/skate shoes and you can fly all over with no consequences because you aren't connected to your board. Good times. And of course there were a lot of crazy tube rides. Check out the pics by clicking on Klane's crazy wake-skating jump above. :)

First time for everything

Klane and I went up to Snowbird for my first skiing lesson! Klane was a great teacher and very patient with me. Everything about skiing is completely backwards from snowboarding, it was crazy! I kept trying to use my skis like I would use my board, and I got pretty frustrated with myself. But we still had fun! By the end of the day I finally started to feel like I was getting a handle on it. I'm excited to be able to do both! And Klane says he's willing to give snowboarding a shot sometime. We forgot to ask someone to take a picture of both of us, so we took one the next morning with our amazing sunburns. We were raccoons! Take my word for it, this picture doesn't do them justice at all.

Snowbird

Little Cloud; that's Mike up ahead. It was kind of snowy!

Proof that skiers and snowboarders can live together in harmony :)

In the tunnel (I guess I'm hanging loose?)

Klane and Mike in the tunnel. Woo!

Mike, Klane and I had such a fun day at Snowbird on Saturday! Sorry there are no action shots, but that's just proof that we were having too much fun skiing to stop and take pictures. It wasn't crowded, the snow was pretty dang good and we even got fresh tracks on one run. :) It snowed the whole day so the light was pretty flat. Kind of crazy to be flying along and not know whether you were about to hit a bump or a dip, but hey it was exciting! I don't think I've ever had a day when I was so tired after every run (once again proof that we were having too much fun to stop. And proof that the snow was fairly deep: Awesome!), but it was so fun and I couldn't wait for the top of the lift and the next one! It was a really fun time.
