he's HIRED!!!

That's right. This handsome devil officially has a real live JOB.

I've been waiting for the right time to do this post, and today is the day. Today is Klane's first official day as an Art Director at DDB New York! That is right, he got the job. We are thrilled and feel so blessed to have this opportunity! I'm so proud of my handsome hubby.

I've mentioned Klane's favorite band is Brand New.

His second favorite band is Third Eye Blind.

On Thursday, they came to DDB and played an acoustic set for a small crowd. They played some new songs and took requests for old favorites.

a night out and some great news

Nate and Meri are leaving the city today, so a bunch of us went for Indian food last night. Sort of a farewell party. We met up at the crazy block of restaurants in the East Village, where we went with Casey and Todd.

This time we tried the restaurant on the top left, called Milon. Their decor was a tiny bit different, the service was a little slower, and they sang this rockin rendition of "happy birthday" to every single table (while the lights flashed on and off) when they brought out the ice cream at the end of the meal. Other than that it was pretty similar to Panna II where we went the first time. Fun times with fun people!

In other news, MY DENTAL HYGIENE LICENSE CAME TODAY!!!!!!!!! I'm a little excited. (Waiting on something for two months when you expected it to take two weeks will do that to you.) I have a meeting in the morning with an office I interviewed at in June to discuss a position... hopefully I'll be working full time very soon!

Also good news; DDB offered to hire Klane freelance through the month of August. Which means that his internship is ending this week, and then he's going to be getting paid to work there! We're hoping that the company is able to keep him on after August. Depends on their budget, etc. But they really love Klane and want to keep him there. Exciting stuff!

This week I dropped in on Klane at the office and had the good fortune to be there when there was free sushi! They have free food brought in at least once a week. I'm thinking we could get used to this. :)

I went searching for grown-up job interview clothes today, and found this lovely little ensemble at Ann Taylor LOFT for a screamin deal. All three pieces for under $100. Oh yeah, that feels good. Since I was a block away from Klane I went to visit him and hung out for a little while. Following that I wandered around, you can follow my journey here:

ddb & subway etiquette

After having a slight meltdown this morning at the prospect of searching for an actual job in a big scary city, I decided I needed a good healthy dose of husband to calm me down. I packed turkey sandwiches and headed for midtown.

I finally got to see Klane's office; when I got there he took me up and gave me a tour. It was really nice and the people were all so friendly. I even got to meet the famous Eric Silver, the CCO, whose office is like ten feet from Klane's. I really liked DDB a lot. I got to see some of what Klane's working on, and of course it was all really good! He's awesome.

Anyway, we ate our sandwiches and oreos on 51st street, and Klane gave me a nice pep talk. He's a great husband.

And now for a question on subway etiquette. I hopped on the crowded train at the Rockefeller station. I sat in an empty seat between two people. At 59th street, the woman on my left got off. Here's my dilemma. There's now an empty seat next to me, and I'd prefer not to sit right next to someone if I don't have to. But I didn't want the man on my right to be offended if I scooted away from him, like I thought he smelled or something. Is it more rude to invade his personal space, or to scoot away so I don't have to sit next to him? The man seemed pretty occupied by his book. I decided to just stay put. The subway car continued to empty, and by 96th there were tons of empty rows and seats, and the only people sitting right next to each other were me and this stranger. I wasn't sure if it'd be weird for me to suddenly scoot away as if repulsed by this person, so we stayed that way until I got off at 116th.

Klane's first day

This morning Klane and I went into the city, me for one more test and him for his first day at DDB! It was very exciting. DDB is kitty corner from the famous St. Patrick's Cathedral, and is in a beautiful part of town on Madison Avenue.

While Klane was at work, I wandered over to Rockefeller Center, hitting H&M and Anthropologie for some browsing, then made my way down to 34th street for my test. Other adventures of the day included Times Square to check on broadway tickets for when my parents come next week, lunch with Klane, and reading a book in Central Park for hours. It was a nice day, and I am now exhausted from all the walking.

Klane's first day went well, he got a desk and a computer and he is ready to be briefed on a new client tomorrow morning. They'll have him on a team working on stuff for a specific client.

We are excited to get into our apartment tomorrow! Woo hoo!! The Greens have been absolutely great and we've had fun getting to know them and their four adorable kids, but we don't want to wear out our welcome and are excited to finally get into our very own little place. Plus, cutting out the 30 minute train ride into the city will be nice.

All I know is it is one of the places they sang that awesome/hilarious song in Enchanted, which I love and can't help but smile when I watch. (Watch it and try not to smile, I dare you.)
And I sat there reading for two hours. It was lovely.

we say yes to DDB

We are so excited. Klane got the internship with DDB. The one we really wanted! After looking over his portfolio, they called him for a phone interview today and they want him! We have somewhere to go!! Officially! I am so happy. It's been driving me crazy not knowing. This is a worldwide agency that has done a lot of great work. This will be such an amazing experience! We can't wait!!!
