Dear Visiting Teachees,

I had a lovely idea today. In light of the valentine's day spirit, I was going to make these for you:

So I got home from a long afternoon of teeth-cleaning ready to bake. I was even going to make them heart-shaped!

With white frosting and pink sprinkles! Can you just feel the love? I sure could.

p.s. there are no calories in batter. just in the baked stuff. so i lick everything clean.

And then when i opened the oven, this is what I found:

"WHY?" I said aloud. I left a pleading comment on Martha's webpage from which i got the recipe, asking if anyone could help me. I then re-read the recipe. Cake flour AND regular flour. Not just cake flour. Shoot. Half the flour will certainly cause problems. Quickly I attempted to erase my stupid comment, sitting there for all the mini-Marthas of the world to see, and realized it was impossible. I sure hope Martha herself doesn't see it, that would be embarrassing. Do you think she looks at her own website?

Now I have the correct recipe, but I just don't have the heart to try again after all that effort and cursing and dish-washing and muffin-pan-scraping. I'm sorry, dear visiting teachees. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

You crack me up! I miss you so so so much! So just an idea if you did keep them, you could put pudding or something in them. They look like little heart cup things, ha ha, you know what I mean!! Love ya! Hey, call me this Friday! Oh and remember I'll be in town in like 2 weeks, so if you want, we could meet up?!!

You are so dang cute and I just love you! Really great cooks always have a few mistakes as they get to the top, so keep on trying. I can't believe you do so many things so perfectly and only have a few moments like the above. I can't wait to see your wonderfully perfect cupcakes. You are so funny. Loved laughing with you last night. Great therapy before my treatment, and it went well today. I am sure attributed to my laughter last night. Love you too pieces.

Oh Angie! It was torture seeing that first picture pop up when I clicked on your blog. Forget the visiting teachees, make them for the hygiene girls instead!

Ooh, sorry about the mixup! I do stuff like that all the time, but hopefully it goes better the next time.

I am so sorry, how frustrating!
Oh how incredibly lucky I am to have you as my visiting teaching partner! Really. Truly.
You always think of stuff to make our girls, thank you for your great mind. You are simply the best (insert Tina Turner song, "Simply the Best" here now). I didn't even know there was cake flour and regular flour, so you're about 10 steps ahead in the cooking world. Maybe the last line of your post should say, "I"ll make my lazy companion try the recipe tomorrow." Not to be cheesy, but I literally thought to myself at church on Sunday that I wished you were there. Something funny probably happened and I needed a good mind to share it with. Tell Klane to ask to be released.

Ang, totally just flashed back about 12 years to when we were in 5th grade and I was visiting from California. We tried to make cookies without any help for the first time... and COMPLETELY forgot ALL flour (and were devastated by the outcome). Haha, please tell me you remember this :-)

You are so cute Angie. :) Like Ashley, I too remember a certain cookie attempt in which we forgot to add the flour. :) I thought it worked out nicely though because we just crumbled up the cookie...stuff (for lack of a better tite) and used it as ice cream topping. Good times. Don't worry...I still have the same problem occasionally also ha ha. Maybe you could just scoop ice cream into the heart shaped cups! Ice cream can usually be used as a cure-all. :)

I love this post- it is too funny! Those top pictures of that yummy goodness are making my mouth drool........................ and I love your cute idea of making them heartshape with the marbles- cute idea!! I too would have been SO MAD at the turnout, especially after all that preparation- but seriously, that is funny.

ashley and sheralee, YES i do remember both of those flour-forgetting times and i thought of them the moment i realized i had forgotten the flour yesterday. maybe it is no coincidence that you both remembered such an experience happening when I was involved.... hahaha

It's definitely the thought that counts! I remember my mom using the marble to make cupcakes into hearts when I was a little girl. post again if it works out! Those stuffed peppers look amazing!

Ok, so I TOTALLY have to relate to you here...except that my mistake was with home-made cookies! I will now and here admit that I havn't made cookies from scratch for at least 14 years! Our relief society had an enrichment night the other week called a "cookie exchange". We were suppose to bring the recipee to our cookies. I knew there and then that I had to make them from scratch instead of the store bought ones that I always buy. I was doin so good until It was time to get them out of the oven. They were as flat and "soupy" as.....well....soup! I quickly dumped it all in the sink and made the only thing from scratch that I can do...brownies. Yes, I took brownies to the "cookie exchange". Enough said.
