We went to City Bakery on the recommendation of several friends to try the famous pretzel croissant and hot chocolate. We also tried the caramelized french toast and macaroni and cheese. The unique/salty/crunchy/soft croissant and the french toast were our favorites. The hot chocolate was about twice as chocolatey as we could stand; we brought it home, split it between two mugs and added milk, and then it was just perfect. The homemade marshmallow was also delicious. We're glad we went!
Walked through the Union Square Greenmarket on the way home. I'm amazed they keep it up and running even in the freezing cold. (And it was cold! It was 17 degrees today. We couldn't feel our hands or feet after walking around for only ten minutes or so.) There is so much to see at the Greenmarket walking between the booths. Fresh food, handmade crafts, art, and all kinds of interesting people. Look for Klane peeking into a couple shots. It made me giggle.

Ha Ha! I had to look twice before I could find Klane. Tricky. Yes, that hot chocolate looks extremely chocolaty, but oh so yummy.
i want that painting!
You look darling in that first photo! The Union Square Greenmarket was probably our all time favorite "anytime" thing to do in the city. It's just the perfect activity, strolling around together. Jacob lived for hot apple cider from the market! Love City Bakery too, esp. those croissants. And that you can get them on the High Line! That was the best.
(I feel like I get all "nostalgic" when I read your blog! It's probably so boring for you to read!)
Love Union Square! What amazing (and tantalizing) food pics! Such fun and colorful photos of Greenmarket. Klane should do that "I Spy...(Klane)" game more often-- that's hilarious!
Angie! My husband and I were just watching KSL's Sportsbeat Saturday (following the Cougars v. Utes b-ball game) and along came a report about the retirement of Utah Jazz' Hot Rod Hundley. I'm pretty sure I saw YOUR DAD applauding with the floor crowd at his retirement celebration at Energy Solutions Arena last night!!! (Was he there?)
PS- Angie, I love your hair in that first photo! Great little updo! (And Klane, don't worry-- I love your hair too-- especially in those hot chocolate pics-- when we can see most of you!)
Oh my goodness it was Brian in the background and he ended up in the Newspaper as well. You Gotta Love it Baby!!! They had fun with the Bishopric!
Angie, I opened this and just loved it! I laughed, I felt happy, I thought you two were so dashing and beautiful, and I am always so happy when you are doing something new and exciting and taking advantage of your time in the City.
good luck on your talks and lesson. I am preparing mine right now!
Dad says you could totally make a "where's Waldo" (subsitute Klane in there) book of New York. It would be so much fun. He could always be wearing that blue coat!
Oh Klane...we love you! And yum all that food looks delicious! The market looks like fun and your hair looks super cute! :) Talk about the Bachelor we must!-my inner Yoda...
You look beautiful, that croissant looks divine, and all of these pictures are absolutely stunning! I've heard tons about City Bakery, but I've never been before. I'm going the next time that I'm in New York. Your pictures have officially convinced me that I must go.
Angie, thanks so much for the info! Unfortunately, we left early Saturday. I definately plan on going back though. I loved it! It was a little difficult to get a lot of things done since I went with a group of 9 friends but we had a great time. Utah is beautiful! I'll be posting the activities we did throughout the week. Thanks again hun!
YES Sharla-- "You Gotta Love It Baby!! It WAS your husband-- I just knew it! That's really cool.
I was ALSO going to recommend a "Where's Waldo (ie, Klane)?" series of some sort. Do it! (During warm months he could wear a blue t-shirt instead.)
Glad your talks went well, Elder and Sister Harding-- Harlem's coolest missionary couple!
Klane's Hair = Feathered & Lethal
Yum! Now I reeeeally want to go to City Bakery. And the Greenmarket. We need to go south of 72nd more...AFTER it warms up!
I want the homemade marshmallow. I don't know why that appeals to me the most, but it looks really good. It's so fun to see all of your adventures there in NYC.

Oh Angie, I like the way you think! That very same thought crossed my mind. I think that breakfast or lunch with you at City Bakery is a fantastic idea! Let's do it!
Angie,
You are super pretty, and a good photographer too!!!
Wow, it sounds like May is going to be a busy month for you! Well, I'm still not sure about when exactly I'm coming. All that my mom keeps saying is that we're coming at the end of May, sometime right around that same weekend that you'll be gone. She talks about getting there on that Thursday, the 27th and staying until that Sunday, or maybe coming on the Friday and staying until Monday or Tuesday. I'm really hoping that somehow it will all work out so that we'll be able to see each other because I really, really, really want to meet you! I'll be sure to let you know just as soon as I know the exact dates!
Angie: Nice to meet you! (via internet) I have been perusing your blog and your pics are great! Love it. I also love city bakery. YUM. I could eat my weight in homemade marshmallows.
I'm so glad you tried it - we love that place.
delicious!
gorgeous photos as usual! :)
