urban temple

We love the temple. I've been here twice this weekend, once for the General Relief Society Meeting broadcast last night, and again tonight with Klane and the scouts for a stake Court of Honor. (The building serves as a temple on some floors and a stake center on others.)

I want to get a good picture of it to frame in our apartment. The problem is, there are buildings/stoplights/trees/streetlamps/signs/taxis/people EVERYWHERE. I might have to break down and buy a professional print.

These look good. I'm sure it was tricky. Our ward's youth has an art deco print for sale. It's pretty expensive, but all the money goes to something good - funding for youth activities.

I love to see the temple! Isn't it cool that it is right there in New York. I wish I could come see it in person.

Angie.Oh, Angie how I hope you will do something. Please. I don't know if in our love of photography you have come across Rodney Smith. Who is a genius. Who I love a lot. I have a link to his website off my blog. He also has a blog: http://rodneysmith.com/blog/ and on his post for today he gives the when and where for a book signing he is doing on Friday in New York. If you are wanting a good Friday night activity I would give you my soul to go to this and document it in any way. This is my plea.

I mean Wednesday. And the temple looks beautiful, by the way.

Oh yes! How wonderfully convenient that it is so close to work! If you go, I will be forever in your debt. I'm so excited! I would love it if you got a picture of him. Or if he signed something...are you supposed to ask for autographs if you don't have a book for him to sign? It would be wonderful if I was rich and could loan you $650 to get a book and sign it, but if you go and just see him or meet him...I will be so jealous, but SO happy! Oh my gosh! Let me know how it goes! I hope it works out!

I agree with the above poster (Mills Family)-- it's the Manhattan Temple!! I really love the location-- right across from Juilliard and Lincoln Center, so close to Central Park --it's perfect!

It's often referred to as the "Miracle in Manhattan." There's a cool Church News article about it that was published June 19, 2004 following its dedication. ("Miracle in Manhattan" by Shaun D. Stahle)
