Valentine's things

I received a sweet surprise on Thursday when a Valentine's package was delivered to me at work. I love my in-laws. Thank you Kaylene and Dave! We feel so loved!

Also among this week's surprises, the doc gave us all Valentine's gifts: cute pink boxes with lipstick and perfume inside. I like my boss, he's a nice guy. And the gift made for a very entertaining lunch hour when all the girls decided to wear the lipstick for the afternoon and discovered that it was a very shocking shade of "old lady pink", accompanied by a strong "old lady perfume" smell. Everyone was laughing so hard at each other looking like old ladies.

I finally got to watch The Time Traveler's Wife with Klane last night. V-day weekend means we can finally watch a romance movie without objections! (Klane would interject here to explain that there is an important difference between a "romance" and a "chick flick", and tell you that he is only universally opposed to the latter. Husband: defended.) I read the book last summer and was interested to see how the tricky time travel concept was portrayed on film. I actually loved it. I think they stayed true to the original story and still created an entertaining movie. Klane liked it too.

After the movie we had a serious conversation about Einstein's theory on time travel and whether it might actually be possible. (Is that totally nerdy?) I think it's incredible to live in a world that's so technologically and scientifically advanced that time travel seems like an eventual realistic possibility. I mean, I was actually considering it last night. That is crazy.

And here's a fun fact: as of Friday afternoon, snow covered part of every state in our nation, except Hawaii. Even the Florida panhandle received a light dusting of the white stuff. Isn't that just magical? I think so. Okay, now spring can come. :) (via USA Today.)

Hope you all enjoy a Valentine's Day weekend full of love!

Props to Klane for watching it with you. According to Forrest all of those movies are garbage. Oh well. And i love that you talked about Einstein - now I know we're not the only nerds:).

That is magical. The whole country with snow. Dallas had record breaking snow. I'm sad I missed it. But I hope it warms up before we get there. And amen to spring coming. I am so sick of the cold!

That package from your in-laws looks like Valentine's Day perfection. How sweet! Your gifts from your boss made me laugh. I tell you, there are certain things that only men would do. Too funny. And I thought the exact same thing when I heard about the snow in (almost) all of the fifty states. Absolutely magical!

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too! Have a fantastic weekend!

I finally watched that movie last night after reading the book last summer. I was a bit nervous at first because I thought the movie was so choppy, but Aaron and I both liked it in the end.

Do you guys watch Lost? That would definitely add to your time travel/ time continuum discussion too..

OH What a great V-day weekend you are having and so much love going around and that is the way it should be. What great husband, and in-laws and boss you have! I think it is the time of year to really celebrate and feel the love. I have to take pics of our weekend so it lasts for more than just this month. Oh we found a yogurt/ice-cream/custard place that truly beats anything I've seen, even Hello Yogurt! Oh my goodness it is Hello Yogurt on Steroids! We will go when you are here in march. We went after our movie last night and dang, I didn't have my camera. Oh and it also serves gourmet Hot Cocoa. Two of my fav's in one local. Heaven! tee hee

I loved that movie too. I have never read the book though so I had nothing to compare it too. It was one of the few movies that I felt very emotionally involved in. I thought it was great. Happy Valentine's Day!

Boxes of chocolate covered cinnamon bears? Now THAT's my kind of Valentine's treat! What sweet in-laws.

Haha, and I'd be interested in knowing which "chick flicks" qualify as "romance" movies in Klane's mind--'cause I'm pretty sure Matt would agree with him :-)

Just to clarify Klane's definitions...

"Chick Flick" = mindless romantic comedy, usually with a predictable plot, mildly funny jokes and overly cutesy moments designed mostly to make high school/college age female audiences swoon. (ex: The Proposal, 27 Dresses.)

"Romance" = a movie with an intelligent plot line and engaging characters, in which the main theme happens to involve love. (ex: (500) Days of Summer, The Time Traveler's Wife.)

I love Klane's definitions. (I'd actually have to agree with him...) He DOES have very sweet parents. What a fun Valentine's surprise!
