saturday baking

It's maybe a little bit unfortunate that I find baking so entertaining. Because I've been bored a lot the last couple months. I'm sure there are a lot of really productive things I could be doing. It's just that when I'm trying to think of something to do, none of those things occur to me. Baking treats does. Eating usually follows.

And I don't know, there's just something about mixing up the ingredients, the familiarity of the steps, putting something in the oven and waiting to see how your creation turned out.

...and the reward at the end isn't so bad either.

Today my excuse for baking these peanut butter chocolate chip cookies was that we're teaching our youth Sunday school class for the first time tomorrow, and I wanted to bring the youth some treats so they'll love us. Think it'll work?

Oh yes it will work! Jay and I know from experience...we were sunday school teachers together for the 12-13 year olds for a while. I never made so many cookies and brownies. One day the bishop surprised us with sitting in on our sunday school class and I had rice crispie treats that day. Soon after that I was called as the relief society president. Note: Do NOT feed your bishop rice crispie treats!!!!

Ang! K I'm way excited for your new job and so jealous of the baking you do... and totally behind on your blog right now because of this trip. BUT... I'm sitting here in Germany waiting for a flight to NJ right now! Unless this flight is canceled, we'll be in Jersey from midnight tonight until Thursday morning.

So the moral of this story is, what do you and Klane have going on this week? Matt & I would love to double with you & Klane on Tuesday or Wednesday night. We were thinking of seeing The Lion King, but we could also go on a date to the temple or do something totally different! Just thought it would be fun to play with you guys :-) Let me know! I'll have my cell phone (finally) as soon as we land.

Yes! It will definitely work. I have a similar problem. Homework generally pales in comparison to the payoff of a tasty, gooey homemade treat!
